They Arrived!

Good news/ bad news. The good news is after waiting a couple of months, 5 pallets of cabinets arrived in our courtyard. Yeah. 5 pallets... Anyway, I'm grateful we had a place to put them even though it's messy! The bad news is the job my contractor is on was severely delayed and he couldn't start. Since it would be about a month before the assembly could begin, that left yours truly to inspect the delivery. Inspection adds a couple of days of work, but is super important. The company has 12 days to report any damage caused in transit, which means I have to report the damage before then. Assembly would be too late to inspect the pieces. I must admit, I was a bit overwhelmed at the task. There were A LOT of boxes and A LOT of wrapped pieces in the boxes. I didn't want the finished pieces to get damaged before we could assemble the cabinets, so I had to rewrap each piece and put them in a safe place. (We have a rambunctious 4 year old and pieces of wood make great swords and shields!)

With my schedule, it took me about 4 days since I could only work on them intermittently. Clay set me up with a nice workbench made from a longboard (surfboard) :) It served its purpose!

I'm glad I decided to inspect each piece because there were a lot of pieces with imperfections. Admittedly, I was a little picky in my report, but kudos to the cabinet company. They will be replacing them all with no questions asked! Yet another reason to make sure you chose a reputable company! It takes a couple of weeks to get them made and shipped, so to prevent installation delays, it is important to inspect your RTA cabinets as soon as they arrive.
